Sika Peru has established a hydroponic greenhouse for educational purposes. The project provides a better understanding of water as a valuable resource and a better handling of waste. Furthermore, qualities like commitment, constancy, innovation, creativity and teamwork are put into practice.

Hydroponic Garden, Sika Peru

Sika Peru has installed a greenhouse on its facilities in Lurin. This space used to be a garden, now it's a space of 36 m2 with more than 150 different kind of hydroponic crops. Recycled goods were processed like medium-density fibreboard (MDF)from some packages, containers of some raw materials and buckets. The Installation of a solar panel compelements the water pumps of the electric systems.

Learning about healthy nutrition

Sika staff learned three hydroponic techniques: vertical, dripping and floating roots. The teams lerned about healthy nutrition, and received vegetables and fruits. Part of the harvest has been given to poor people in the community of Lurín where Sika's premises are located. 30 employees from production and further 30 employees from administration and sales are working actively on the project.

As a next step, communities near Sika’s facilities were integrated into the project in order to help people to improve their nutritional needs and to share with them new knowledge..
