FAQ

What types of waterproofing systems does Sika offer?

Sika provides a comprehensive range of waterproofing systems, including flexible sheet membranes, liquid-applied membranes, waterproofing mortars, joint sealants, injection systems and protective coatings, all designed to protect both below and above ground structures.

Which waterproofing solution is best for basements or below ground structures?

This depends on the Grade of basement required or specified, for example:

  • A Grade-1 (car park) might be suitably protected by just using ‘Type B’ “Sika Watertight Concrete” system for fast track construction.
  • Whereas a Grade-2 (plant room) may require a ‘Type A’ membrane like SikaProof to protect against both hydrostatic water and gases.
  • In the case of Grade-3 (habitable space) a minimum of 2 forms of protection using a ‘Type A’ membrane, along with either ‘Type B’ watertight admixture and/or ‘Type C’ internal cavity drainage system.
