SIKA PRESCRIBE A NEW WATERPROOF ROOF
When the roof of a Cork-based pharmaceutical factory, built in 1998, was experiencing ongoing leak issues affecting production and administration rooms below, Sika was called to inspect the roof and propose a suitable solution.
Working closely with Apleona Facilities Management, Sika Technical Department conducted a site visit to survey the roof and identified the cause of water ingress was due to localised damage as well as some poor original installation detailing. The result was the recommendation of a full roof overlay using Sikalastic®-601 BC and Sikalastic®-621 TC, a high-performance polyurethane liquidapplied waterproofing system.
Our Solution
The main advantages of Sikalastic®-621/-601 waterproofing system over traditional sheet material systems in this complicated refurbishment situation was the ease of application to the numerous complex details particularly around the widespread mechanical and electrical plant installations and its safe, zero-flame, non-intrusive method of application.
The system was expertly applied by Sika's trained and approved contractor, Deane Roofing, and the application was carefully monitored on site by Sika’s Field Technicians.
Both the contractor and client were both very pleased with the versatility of the product and the end result achieved. The entire project was completed without disruption to the essential services below and the building fully remained operational throughout the works.
The high performance Sikalastic® system will give this facility a dependable and highly durable roof waterproofing system for years to come, all backed up with a 20-year guarantee direct from Sika, for added peace of mind.
