Sika offers a fully integrated tile setting system designed to meet the high-performance requirements of professional tile installations in wet room, bathroom and shower areas.
- The process begins with Sikafloor®-03 Primer, a dispersion-based primer formulated to enhance the bond of subsequent levelling compounds.
- Once primed, the substrate is prepared using Sikafloor®-200 Level, a polymer-modified, high-build cementitious levelling compound ideal for forming slopes towards drains and creating a smooth base.
- After levelling, the surface is waterproofed with Sikalastic®-260 Stop Aqua, a seamless liquid-applied waterproofing membrane, and Sika® SealTape, a waterproof sealing tape for movement and connection joints, which provide robust moisture protection for demanding wet room, bathroom and shower environments.
- Tiles are then installed using a high-performance cement-based adhesive such as SikaCeram®-250 StarFix, or the rapid-setting SikaCeram®-250 StarFix Rapid.
- Grouting is then completed with SikaCeram®-690 Elite, a durable cementitious grout for walls and floors.
- The system is finished with SikaSeal®-175, a sanitary bathroom and shower sealant offering outstanding resistance to mould growth.

A 20kg bag of tile adhesive typically covers an area of around 3 to 5 m². Uneven or porous surfaces require more adhesive to achieve a level and secure bond. A well-prepared, flat surface allows for more efficient coverage. Always check the Product Data Sheet for the most accurate coverage rates and recommended application methods for your project.

Sika tiling products are compatible with common substrates, including concrete, cementitious substrates, existing ceramic and stone tiles, gypsum substrates and wooden OSB and chipboard substrates. Refer to the Product Data Sheet for each product for the full list of compatible substrates before application.
For large format tiles, use SikaCeram®-250 StarFix Rapid, a high-performance fast setting tile adhesive, to ensure strong adhesion.
Use Sika’s complete wet room system kit, Sikalastic®‑260 Stop Aqua, to create a robust waterproof finish ready for the application of tiles.
To waterproof a wet room using the Sikalastic®‑260 Stop Aqua kit, start with a clean, dry substrate and apply a suitable primer, like Sikafloor®-03 Primer. Apply the first layer of Sikalastic®‑260 Stop Aqua on the surface area you wish to waterproof. Take Sika® SealTape and apply it carefully to corners, wall and floor junctions and drain areas. Then apply the second coat of Sikalastic®‑260 Stop Aqua, once this is dry the area is waterproof!
