PIR (Polyisocyanurate) is usually the most thermally efficient insulation board, meaning a thinner board for the project U-value. It is also good from an environment perspective having zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and below 5 GWP (Global Warming Potential).
It also gets an A+ rating in the green guide with most waterproofing systems.
