What is Sika® Black Jack®-901 Black Bitumen Paint used for?

Sika® Black Jack®-901 Black Bitumen Paint is a fast-drying black bitumen paint that creates a waterproof, weatherproof and corrosion resistant protective coating. It is suitable for application to iron, steel, lead, zinc, aluminium, concrete, stone, felt and wood surfaces. It restores aged surfaces and provides lasting protection against water and weather.

How to apply Sika® Black Jack®-901 Black Bitumen Paint

Ensure surfaces are dry, stable and thoroughly cleaned from traces of dirt, dust and grease. If there is green growth present, this should be removed with Sika® Mouldbuster before proceeding. Porous surfaces should be primed with Sika® Black Jack®-902 Bitumen Flashing Primer and allowed to dry.

Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply Sika® Black Jack®-901 Black Bitumen Paint with a brush or spray in a minimum of 2 coats. Allow the first coat to dry, normally 2-4 hours, before applying the second coat.

For added UV protection you can finish with Sika® Black Jack®-907 Solar Reflective Paint.

The drying time for Sika® Black Jack®-901 Black Bitumen Paint is 4-6 hours depending on the drying conditions.

What is Sika® Black Jack®-902 Bitumen & Flashing Primer used for?

Sika® Black Jack®-902 Bitumen & Flashing Primer primes porous or weathered surfaces to ensure strong bonding for applying bitumen paints, coatings and flashing.

How to apply Sika® Black Jack®-902 Bitumen & Flashing Primer

Surfaces must be clean, dry and stable before applying the primer. Wet surfaces should be brushed free from water and wiped with a dry cloth to remove any moisture which remains. Where there is green growth present, clean surfaces with Sika® Mouldbuster before proceeding.

Stir the primer thoroughly before use. Apply it by brush or spray. Ensure the product is applied in a thin even layer – avoid any pooling.

The drying time for Sika® Black Jack®-902 Bitumen & Flashing Primer is 3-6 hours depending on the drying conditions.

What is Sika® Black Jack®-903 Bitumen Trowel Mastic used for?

Sika® Black Jack®-903 Bitumen Trowel Mastic is a fibre-reinforced bitumen mastic for filling cracks and holes in roofing felt, mastic asphalt, corrugated iron, metal guttering and downpipes.

How to apply Sika® Black Jack®-903 Bitumen Trowel Mastic

Surfaces must be clean, dry and stable before applying Sika® Black Jack®-903 Bitumen Trowel Mastic. Any rust should be removed with a wire brush, loose or blistered paint should be removed and green growth should be removed with Sika® Mouldbuster.

To fill small cracks and holes with the mastic, force the compound into the crack with a steel trowel or putty knife and finish with a 25mm band at a 3mm thickness running the length of the crack.

For large cracks and holes, apply the compound over the area and embed a closely woven glass fibre membrane into the compound overlapping the crack or hole by 50mm. Allow the compound to dry and then apply a second coat to fully cover the reinforcing membrane.

The drying time for Sika® Black Jack®-903 Bitumen Trowel Mastic is 24 hours to form a surface skin – with the mastic below remaining plastic for months.

Applying Sika Black Jack Bitumen Roof Felt Adhesive

What is Sika® Black Jack®-904 Bitumen Roof Felt Adhesive used for?

Sika® Black Jack®-904 Bitumen Roof Felt Adhesive is a bitumen-based adhesive for bonding roof felt to metal, concrete and wood. It can also be used to seal felt laps and as a gritting solution for bonding mineral chippings.

How to apply Sika® Black Jack®-904 Bitumen Roof Felt Adhesive

Surfaces must be clean, dry and stable before applying the adhesive. Any rust should be removed with a wire brush, loose or blistered paint should be removed and green growth should be removed with Sika® Mouldbuster.

Stir the adhesive thoroughly before and during use. Sika® Black Jack®-904 Bitumen Roof Felt Adhesive should be brush or mop applied and left open for 15-30 minutes to develop its full tackiness for best performance. Place the felt onto the adhesive and firmly rub or roll each section of felt down to ensure maximum contact with the adhesive and that there is no air underneath. Weigh down the felt until it is fully bonded.

What is Sika® Black Jack®-905 All Weather Roof Coating used for?

Sika® Black Jack®-905 All Weather Roof Coating is a fast-drying bitumen coating designed to waterproof and reseal all types of roof coverings including felt, asphalt, concrete, metal, tiles and slates. It provides immediate waterproof protection after application and is therefore suitable for winter use.

How to apply Sika® Black Jack®-905 All Weather Roof Coating

Sika® Black Jack®-905 All Weather Roof Coating should only be applied to structurally sound roofs. Cracked, broken or missing roof coverings need to be replaced or fixed before applying the coating.

All roof surfaces should be free from loose debris, dirt, dust and grease before applying the coating. Green growth should be removed with Sika® Mouldbuster.

Stir well before use. Sika® Black Jack®-905 All Weather Roof Coating should be applied with a brush in 2 coats. Allow the first coat to fully dry (24 hours) before the second is applied.

Applying Sika Black Jack Solar Reflective Paint Outdoors

What is Sika® Black Jack®-907 Solar Reflective Paint used for?

Sika® Black Jack®-907 Solar Reflective Paint is a bitumen-based aluminium protective paint for reducing heat absorption, preventing UV degradation and extending the life of bituminous roof surfaces and metals.

How to apply Sika® Black Jack®-907 Solar Reflective Paint

Surfaces must be clean, dry, stable and free from ice and water before applying the coating. Any loose or blistered paint should be removed and green growth should be removed with Sika® Mouldbuster. Porous surfaces should be primed with Sika® Black Jack®-902 Bitumen Flashing Primer.

Stir the product before and during use. Apply Sika® Black Jack®-907 Solar Reflective Paint in 2 coats by brush or mohair roller. Apply the second coat as soon as the first coat is dry (1-2 hours). Avoid ponding.

The drying time for Sika® Black Jack®-907 Solar Reflective Paint is 1-2 hours depending on the drying conditions.

What is Sika® Black Jack®-908 D.P.M. used for?

Sika® Black Jack®-908 D.P.M. is a rubber enriched bitumen membrane for damp proofing and waterproofing floors, concrete, foundations and walls. It can also be used as an adhesive or bonding aid.

How to apply Sika® Black Jack®-908 D.P.M.

Surfaces must be clean, sound and touch dry (free from excess water and ice) before applying the coating. Porous surfaces should be primed with SikaBond® SBR.

For damp proofing floors, the coating should be applied by brush with a minimum of 2 coats. Allow the first coat to dry before applying the second coat at right angles to the first.

For waterproofing exterior walls, first make sure uneven surfaces are levelled with cement mortar. Apply 3 coats of Sika® Black Jack®-908 D.P.M. with a soft bristle brush allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. Allow the final coat to become tacky, then blind with clean, sharp sand.

For waterproofing moderately damp interior walls, first remove any wallpaper, gloss paint, dust or grease. Lightly dampen the prepared surface and apply 3 coats of Sika® Black Jack®-908 D.P.M. allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. A horizontal strip running 300mm deep should be left uncoated at the top running the whole length of the wall. This permits trapped moisture to escape by evaporation.

What is Sika® Black Jack® Flashing Tape used for?

Sika® Black Jack® Flashing Tape is a strong self-adhesive flashing tape designed to provide a long-lasting weatherproof seal. It is ideal for flashing, guttering and general roof repairs.

How to apply Sika® Black Jack® Flashing Tape

Surfaces must be dry, sound and free from oil, grease and dust. Do not apply to damp surfaces. Porous surfaces should be primed using Sika® Black Jack®-902 Bitumen Flashing Primer.

Cut the tape to the required length. Peel back approximately 50mm of release back cover and place the tape into position. Continue removing the release back cover whilst firmly pressing the tape to ensure a watertight seal. Use a small roller to ensure that all edges and overlaps are sealed properly. Overlaps should be at least 25mm.
