Sika® BentoShield® Paste

Thixotropic polymer modified natural sodium bentonite mastic

Sika® BentoShield® Paste is a single component mastic consisting of polymer modified natural sodium bentonite and further polymer additives. Trowel applied and thixotropic in nature.

  • Immediate activation, does not require to be mixed with water.
  • Can be applied by trowel, putty knife or hand.
  • Continuous waterproofing paste for irregular detailing
  • Contains no bitumen or tar.
  • Can be applied over metal & concrete surfaces

Usage

Sika® BentoShield® Paste used to:
  • Seal Sika BentoShield® MAX LM membrane around vertical & horizontal penetrations
  • Seal Sika BentoShield® MAX LM membrane around vertical & horizontal protrusions, eg metal anchors, metal conductors
  • Seal ground level termination details
  • Create secondary fillets at wall / slab junctions
  • Correct minor cracks in the substrate prior to the membrane application
  • Seal the vertical laps of membrane applications

100% natural mineral, Montmorillonite, sodium bentonite, oil

Shelf Life

24 months from date of production if stored properly in undamaged unopened,original sealed packaging.

Storage Conditions

Store in dry conditions at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C. Protect from direct sunlight and frost.

System Structure

  • Sika® BentoShield® Paste is a single component product which requires no further activation.
  • Can be directly applied to either dry or wet substrate.
  • It is recommended to remove loose concrete when applying Sika BentoShield® Paste on segregated concrete surfaces.



 

Compatibility

  • Sika® BentoShield® Paste can be directly applied to either dry or wet substrate.
  • Do not apply into pooling water.
  • Sika® BentoShield® Paste may be combined with other Sika products.


Important: Always conduct trials before combining products in specific mixes and contact the Sika Technical Service Department for information and advice about any specific combinations.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES ON APPLICATION / LIMITATIONS
 

All dirt, contaminates and debris must be removed from the area of application. Product must not be applied into standing water.

Excessive water addition or overdosing may cause bleeding or segregation.

Frost:
If frozen and / or if precipitation has occurred, Sika BentoShield® Paste may be used after thawing slowly at room temperature followed by intensive remixing.
 

CLEANING OF TOOLS
 

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened / cured material can only be removed mechanically.
