Apply an additional coat if >24 hours is exceeded before overcoating. Overcoat within 24 hours for optimum performance.
Times are approximate and will be affected by changing ambient conditions particularly temperature and relative humidity.
Consumption
Apply in 1coat at a coverage rate of ~150 ml/m2
This figure is theoretical and does not allow for any additional material due to surface porosity, surface profile, variations in level or wastage etc.
SUBSTRATE QUALITY
The existing membrane must have sufficient adhesion to the roof.
The surfaces must be clean, dry, free of stripping agents, oil, grease, silanes, salts, silicone, siloxanes and other chemicals which could cause poor adhesion.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
All surfaces to be coated must be thoroughly cleaned by conventional methods.
For confirmation of adequate preparation carry out a pre-trial.
For detailed information regarding substrate quality / preparation and primer chart, refer to the Sika® Method Statement: Sikalastic® EPDM Primer.
MIXING
Sikalastic® EPDM Primer is supplied ready for use. Before application, mix for 3 minutes using a low speed electric single paddle mixer or other suitable equipment. Mix the liquid and all the pigment until a uniform colour has been achieved. Frequent stirring (every 15–20 minutes) is recommended.
APPLICATION
Strictly follow installation procedures as defined in method statements, application manuals and working instructions which must always be adjusted to the actual site conditions.
Reference must be made to the Sika® Method Statement: Sikalastic® EPDM Primer.
Pour mixed primer at the required consumption onto the prepared substrate and apply by short-piled roller or brush. Ensure a continuous coat covers the substrate.
Confirm waiting /overcoating time has been achieved before applying subsequent products.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
Clean all tools and application equipment with Thinner C immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
