Dublin

Montevetro is one of the tallest commercial buildings in Dublin. It comprises 19,500 square metres of prime office space spread over 15 floors, and is located on the water’s edge on the Grand Canal Basin in Dublin. The development is owned by Google and is part of its European headquarters. It has three basement car park levels, with the capacity for 80 cars and extensive additional space for motorcycles and bicycles.

Montevetro was designed to have a BREEAM excellent rating, with many sustainable features. It has solar control and shading to facades, water recycling and conservation measures and state of the art energy efficient lighting and air conditioning systems.

Project Requirements

Situated on a high water table adjacent to the Grand Canal Basin, a watertight solution was required for the three below ground car parking levels.

Our Solution

To ensure a dry environment in the basement car park, consulting engineers Arup specified the Sika® Watertight Concrete system. This high performance, cost effective solution, saves time at both the design and construction stages, and it also delivers the maximum usable area to the developer as the overdig requirement is much reduced. This is an important feature on projects such as this in cities where space is at a premium. 3,500 cubic metres of Sika® Watertight Concrete was used in the basement construction.
