SikaTard®-930

Hydration control admixture

SikaTard®-930 is a liquid admixture developed for the control of cement hydration. Concrete mixes are stabilised without setting for extended time periods and without negatively influencing the performance.

  • Controls cement hydration
  • Compatible with Sika® Sigunit® accelerators which immediately starts the hydration process
  • Does not contain chlorides or any other substances which promote steel corrosion

Usage

  • Mainly wet and dry spray shotcrete mixes where cement hydration is prevented until required i.e. in tunnelling work
  • Stabilises mixed concrete for hours / days

    Compatibility

    SikaTard®-930 is generally suitable for all types of Portland cement and Sika® Sigunit® accelerators. For specific stabilisation periods pre-trials are essential. Contact Sika Technical Services for additional information and any specific combinations.

    Concrete Mix Design

    When using SikaTard®-930, a suitable mix design must be calculated. The local material sources used within the mix design must always be trialled and approved for suitability before commencement of the project.

    Recommended Dosage

    SikaTard®-930 is normally used at between 0,2 % to 3 % by weight of cement and added at the batching plant. The table shows the approximate retarded stabilisation times at various dosages.
